Global Host System

The Global Host System (GHS) may be used to connect to a dynamic IP address, even without your own domain. When your make a remote host available via the Internet through dialup, ISDN, ADSL, or any Internet connection you are usually assigned a dynamic IP address. This means that the IP is different every time your host is connected. You won't be able to connect to your remote host if you don't know this host's remote IP address. However, if you register for a Global Host Digital ID, and configure the RemoteComputer server to work with this ID, then the RemoteComputer server will automatically update your server's IP address to the Global Host Server, then your client can connect to the remote server though the Digital ID system.

Register your own Global Host Digital ID right now

When you get your Digital ID, please input it into the server as follows:

Digital ID
This is a number for identifying your computer from many others. It was given to you, or you chose it, when you signed up.

Password
This can protect your ID from hackers trying to input a fake IP address. Please NOTICE that this is not your RemoteComputer Server's password.

After you input your Digital ID and password, test it by connecting a client to the server using the Digital ID.

If this test fails, check whether you are able to connect to http://www.RemoteComputer.net.

Automatically Detect IP Address
If your server computer is in a local network, and you are connecting through a gateway or use a proxy connection to the Internet, then your server can only be connected by the same subnet hosts. If your gateway or proxy has server port mapping, then map the port 7314 to connect to the local IP address of the computer running the RemoteComputer server.

On ADSL networks without public IP addresses, try connecting using 'Automatically detect my IP address.'

If the computer running the server has multiple IP addresses, and the IP address prompt is not correct, try connecting using 'Automatically detect my IP address.'

If your server is only connected by localhost, then you don't need to use the 'Automatically detect my IP address.'

When you set a Digital ID, the RemoteComputer server will automatically update your IP address every 3 minutes.

If you don't need to use the Digital ID, and so don't need to update your IP address to the Global Host System, just clear this 'Digital ID' box.
